Collage on Canvas, Board, Paper

As a mixed-media artist using paint, collage and found objects, I like to explore dimensions of creativity in an intuitive way, giving context to universal concepts, archetypes and cultural traditions.

By drawing on my lifelong experience with ceramics, weaving, basket making, paper-making and painting, I create pieces of art with multi-layer textural effect and design.  I invite you to look beneath the surface and discover the impression of mystery!

"Mythological symbols touch and exhilarate centers of life beyond the reach of vocabularies of reason and coercion."
Joseph Campbell, The Masks of God, Volume IV: Creative Mythology, p. 4

Trios Series
8x8 Collage on Canvas

These pieces show how my interior process works along with my techniques to create a series.

Be present, deepen the mystery, work in threes, take time to step back, breathe and refocus if necessary to look at what is developing and how themes come together.  The outcomes express touchstone symbols that have created my personal mythology.

"It’s important to live life with the experience, and therefore the knowledge, of its mystery and of your own mystery. This gives life a new radiance, a new harmony, a new splendor.”

Abstract collage art uses a visual language of shape, form, color and line and texture to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world.
